Image-Text
Ink and watercolor painting from the Arnold Arboretum, Boston, Massachusetts. The image was created along with other sketches to accompany a poem, "At the Arboretum," in a small hand-bound work. The first stanzas, accompanying this image, reads as follows:
Glory be to trees,
to grace-filled symmetry
halo-crowned, radiant
with green-gold leaves.
To garden makers, kneelers,
Groundkeepers, pruners
and righteous rakers.
The poem and art are also a tribute to Gerald Manley Hopkins.
